Services for Jo Ann Childress, 55, of Clyde were Wednesday, November 26, 1997 at the First Baptist Church in Spur. Rev. Richard Harbison officiated. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

Mrs. Childress died Monday, November 24 at 9:45 a.m. at the Hendrix Medical Center in Abilene after a lengthy illness. She married Chili Childress February 6, 1959 in Kalgary, Texas. She lived in Clyde for the last 17 years coming from Stamford. She was a secretary for Bill Reed Distributing in Abilene for several years. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Chili Childress, Clyde; three sons, Curtis Childress, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Donnie Childress, Blooming Grove, Texas; Wesley Bennett, Stamford; and eight grandchildren.
