Albert Hamilton (Bert) Cherry was born in Moulton, Texas 29 March 1904 to Samuel LaFayette and Mattie Ann (White) Cherry. He married Ona Faye Cornelius 29 Jan 1927 at the age of 22. He was a farmer and service station owner. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. A man weighing around 115 lbs. and height of about 5' 3". He was a member of the Steel Hill Baptist Church.His wife, Ona Faye was born 10 Aug 1908 in Stephenville, Erath, County, Texas to Major Martin and Ida Ophelia (Cooper) Cornelius. She died in Stonewall County at the age of 62 on 12 March 1971.
Three children were born to this union, one daughter and two sons.

Albert Hamilton (Bert) Cherry, 57, who was killed in an explosion at his service station in Spur Saturday, was buried in Spur Cemetery Monday. Funeral services were held Monday in the First Baptist Church. Rev. Clyde Spon, Ft. Worth, officiating; Rev. L. B. Flud, Midland and Rev. Leslie Tonn, Girard, assisting.Born in 1904 in Moulton, Texas, Mr. Cherry came to Kent County in 1911 and then moved to Spur in 1949. He married Miss Ona Fay Cornelius in Kent County in 1927. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Ophelia Swaringen, Lovington, N.M.; two sons, Robert and Glenn Cherry, both of Lubbock, one sister, Mrs. Eddie Lynn Yandell, Brownwood, Eleven grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were Marion Joedan, Howard Thomas, Mutt Hagins, Barney Yeakley, Brink Carlisle and Raymond Bailey.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Flud.Mrs. Cherry died March__. She had been a resident of Dickens County since ____. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons , Robert, Lubbock; Glenn, Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Ophelia Swaringen, Graham; five sisters, Mrs. Roy Caplinger, Spur; Mrs. Lela Sand, Lubbock, and Mrs. Mae McCrary, Mrs. Nettie Mincher and Mrs. Kate Handley all of Tyler. 2 brothers, Raymond Cornelius, Gustine; and W.R. Cornelius, Comanche; 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Alvis Bilberry, Bernice Bilberry, Buck Carlisle, Claude Swaringen, Homer Hill, U.W. (Red) Wallace, Marion Jordan and Howard Thomas.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery.
