It is with real sorrow that we chronicle the passing of an old citizen in the death of W.H. Cartwright which occurred Saturday, November 18, his remains being laid to rest in the Spur Cemetery.W.H. Cartwright was seventy seven years of age, locating in the Spur country in 1909. During the past year he has been in declining health, suffering of brights disease and other complications, and for two months before death came to relieve him he was confined to his bed and in a critical condition. Mr. Cartwright was among the early settlers here immediately following the opening of Spur and the country to settlement. He was a good, loyal, and worthy citizen and his death is a loss to the community and an irreparable sorrow to family and friends.
W.C. Cartwright called in from north of Spur Wednesday and requested the Texas Spur to extend thanks on the part of himself and family to friends and neighbors who assisted and sympathized with them through the illness and in the death of his father, W.H. Cartwright.

Grandma Cartwright died Tuesday March 11th, of pneumonia, her remains being interred Wednesday in the Spur cemetery. Grandma Cartwright had reached the ripe old age of seventy four years. During the past 20 years, her son, W.C. Cartwright, had cared for his mother and father and two sisters, his father having died two years ago at the age of seventy odd years. The passing of Grandma Cartwright leaves a vacancy in the home which cannot be filled, and an ache in the hearts of the son and daughters which time alone can relieve. We extend to them our sincerest sympathy in their bereavement. Grandma lived a useful, worthy life, and has merely paid the last debt of life, passing on to her reward which without doubt is a crown of glory in the Great Beyond.
