Services for John Ralph "Buck" Carlisle, 84, of Spur were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 1997 in the First Baptist Church, Spur. Reverend Richard Harbison, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.Mr. Carlisle died Sunday, January 17, 1997 in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock.
Mr. Carlisle was born September 3, 1912 in Freestone County, Texas. He married Bertha Thomas on May 16, 1931 in Spur. He lived most of his life in Dickens County and he was a farmer. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Carlisle, Spur; one son, Ralph Carlisle, Jr., Lubbock; two brothers, W.S. Carlisle, Jr. of Lubbock and Rex Carlisle, Spur; two sisters, Bertha Mae Hargis, Pinebluff, Arkansas; and Avancelle Faubus, Spur; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bertha Carlisle, 92, of Lubbock and formerly of Spur, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in Lubbock. Graveside services were 3 PM Monday, February 20, 2006 at Spur Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Rory Mosley officiating.Mrs. Carlisle was born December 17, 1913 in Kent County to S.C. and Florence Wolforth Thomas. She married John Ralph "Buck" Carlisle at Spur in 1931. He preceded her in death in 1997. She was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother. She had lived in the Kent and Dickens County area her whole life before being moved to Lubbock recently for care.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Carlisle is survived by one son, Ralph Carlisle and wife Robbie of Lubbock; three children and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 576, Spur, TX 79370.
