Rex Carlisle PhotoIsaac Rex Carlisle, 96, of Spur died Monday, April 17, 2006. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Spur with Eric Swenson and Rev. Richard Harbison officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Rex was born Aug. 12, 1909 in Winkler, Texas to Steve and Mary Jane Massey Carlisle. He attended Steele Hill and Duck Creek Schools. Rex married Johnnie Lee Johnson Feb. 6, 1960 in Lubbock. He was a member of the Dickens County Sheriff's Posse and Palmetto Polo team. He drove a school bus for the Spur schools and was a farmer and a rancher for 68 years in Dickens County. Rex was known as the "Domino Champ of Spur" and was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Spur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Marvin Rex, one daughter; Mafoi Bogitsh, one grandson; Glenn Bogitsh, and one brother; "Buck" Carlisle.

Rex is survived by his wife, Johnnie of Spur; eight daughters, Rexine Burden and husband Roy of Kilgore, Marian Fonte of Bosque Farms, NM, Twila Key and husband Randal of Spur, Shawnee Blancet of Wolfforth, Brenda Randall and husband Jerry of Lubbock, Mary Ann Merritt and husband Jerry of Laverne, OK, Reba Ooley and husband Richard of Spearman, Sandra Cyr and husband Ron of Mansfield. He is also survived by two sons, David Hale and wife Kathy of Tahoka, R.D. Hale and wife Susie of Snyder. Other survivors include one brother, W.S. Carlisle of Lubbock; two sisters, Bertha Mae Hargis of Conway, AR, and Avanelle Faubus of Spur. He is survived by 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grand-children; 14 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The most important thing in his life was his family.
