Funeral services were held December 11 at 2 p.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church for Dannie Dexter Carley, 67. Rev. Lewis Johnson, Clovis, NM., officiated, assisted by Rev. Bill Dillard, Mustang Okla.Mr. Carley died December 9. He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1940 and had lived the past five years in Spur.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Carley, Spur; four sons, Dexter Carley, Lubbock; Kenneth Carley, Lubbock; Conway Carley, Portales, NM; and Joe Tom Carley, Spur; seven brothers, George, Melvin, and Sam Carley, all of Harwood; Claude and Virgil, both of Luling; J.F. Carley, San Antonio and Alfred Carley, Norfolk, VA; three sisters, Olga Kerr and Susie Park, both of Harwood; Mattie Mae Huff of West Columbia; six grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Rickey Williams, Jockey Tooke, Ted Horner, Gene Phelps, Elmer Osborn, and Jimmy Rainbolt.
Honorary pallbearers include Fred Horner, C.L.Sedgwick, Andy Cook, Dr. Geroge Neese, R.A. Gilcrease, Don Robinson, Homer Hill, Millard Smith and Lafayette Robinson.
Interment was made in the Spur Cemetery.

SPUR Services for Annie Laura Carley, 91, of Portales, N.M., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating.Burial will be in Spur Cemetery under the direction of Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
She died on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in Clovis, N.M.
She was born on Feb. 6, 1909, in Gonzales County. She had lived and worked in Austin, Crosbyton and Roaring Springs during her early years. She married Dexter Dannie "Dan" Carley on Dec. 19, 1926, in Crosby County. They lived in Dickens County, Kalgary, the Bethel community near Portales, Farwell and Spur. She later returned to Portales.
Her husband died in December 1971.
Survivors include four sons, Dexter and Kenneth, both of Lubbock, Conway of Portales and Joe Tom of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church in Spur.
