Funeral rites for Daniel Stutman Cargile, 89, were held in the First Methodist Church, Spur. Rev. Bob Jameson officiated, with Rev. W.J. Knoy and Rec. Cal Wright assisting.

Cargile suffered a heart attack Tuesday morning at his son's residence in Muleshoe. He had been a resident of Stockton, Ca. for the past five years, and returned only last week to West Texas.

He was born May 6, 1891, in Arkansas, and for the past several years had lived as a retired farmer. He is well known in Stonewall, Kent, Dickens, Motley, and Floyd Counties.

Pallbearers were Martin, Harold, Preston Cargile, R.D. and Lindell Holley and James Faubus, all grandsons.

Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Elma Woods, Strathmore Ca; Mrs. Ethel Jones, Modesto, CA; Mrs. Loys Basham, Stockton, CA; Mrs. M.O. Guinn, Medford, Oregon; Mrs. Ted Rupe, Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. Watt Holley, Dickens; Five sons; C.B. Cargile, Strathmore, CA; J.A. Cargile, Crane, Missouri; J.H. Cargile, Abilene; D.W. Cargile, Muleshoe; and H.P. Cargile, Roaring Springs. One sister, Mrs. Sarah Baker of Ozark, Ark., also survives as do 33 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

The body was brought over land from Muleshoe to Campbell Funeral Home in Spur, who directed all arrangements.

Interment was in Spur Cemtery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Euphia Jane Cargile were held at the First Methodist Church in Spur, Friday, April 28 at 4 p.m. , Rev. Howard H. Hollowell conducted the service with Rev. Herman Coe, pastor of the First Baptist Church assisting. Elliott's Funeral Home of Abilene was in charge of arrangements.

After an illness of several years, Mother Cargile passed away Thursday, April 27, at 7:45p.m. at the age of 76 years and 13 days in the home of a son in Abilene. The body was brought to Spur for burial in the city cemetery.

Euphia Jane Hood was born in Bell County, April 14, 1868 She was converted and joined the First Methodist Church at the age of 14 years, having been a member of the Roaring Springs Methodist church for the past 25 years. A the age of 20 she was married to Daniel S. Cargile at Corn Hill, Texas on January 8, 1887, living together 57 years. To this union were born 11 children, six girls and 5 boys, all surviving. They made their home in Bell County for several years, coming to this country in 1909. Since that time they have made their home in Spur, Roaring Springs and the surrounding country, having gone to Abilene a few weeks before her death.

Mrs. Cargile is survived by her husband, D.S. Cargile, and children: Mrs. Elma Woods, C.B. Cargile and Mrs. Ethel Jones, Strathmore, CA; Mrs. L.V. Basham, Stockton, CA; Mrs. Watt Holly, Dickens; D.W. Carlisle, Littlefield; Mrs. Hauneara Reese, Los Angeles, CA; Homer Cargile, Abilene; J.A. Cargile, Crane; Mo. Mrs. M. O'Guinn and Hulen Cargile, Roaring Springs; a number of grandchildren; also three brothers, F.H. Hood, Burkburnett; Sam Hood, Brownwood; Horace Hood, Belton; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Griffin, Belton and Mrs. Oliver Word, Temple.

Mother Cargile will be greatly missed by her many friends and loved ones.
