Obituary

Otis Ray Caplinger, 87, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 23, 2006, at Crestview Nursing Home in Waco. Ray was born Dec.24, 1918 in McKinney, then moved to Spur where he met and married Wanda Bostick, his wife and help mate for 65 years. Ray moved to Idalou in 1953, at which time he was employed as a salesman for Southwest Wheel Manufacturing Co. in Lubbock.

He had many friends throughout his sales territory in the South Plains and Eastern New Mexico areas. He retired in 1982 after working for 27 years.

Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idalou where he served many years as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. He loved his family and is survived by his wife Wanda; one daughter, Sandra Hook and husband Bill of Kennett, Mo. ; one son, Mike Caplinger and wife Carolyn of Waco. Ray leaves behind four grandchildren and five great-grandchil-dren. Also surviving is a brother, Ernest Caplinger of Lubbock and a sister-in-law, Ruth Caplinger of Spur and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held for family and friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Campbell Funeral Home. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Spur with Rev. Vestal Blakely officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Wanda Eileen Caplinger went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Crestview Care Center in Waco. Wanda was born to Chesley Woodrow Bostick and Grace Means Bostick on September 23, 1924 in Dothan. She grew up in Spur, where she met and married Ray, her husband of 65 years who preceded her in death on February 23, 2006.

Wanda had a sweet spirit and was a gracious, caring friend and mother. Soft spoken and gentle, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Idalou, where she and Ray were Sunday school teachers for many years.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hook and husband Bill of Kennett, Mo., and son, Mike Caplinger and wife Carolyn of Waco. Wanda leaves behind four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Ruth Caplinger of Spur and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held for family and friends 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Campbell Funeral Home in Spur. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Spur.

Pallbearers will be Jason Hook, Clark Hook, Tay Campbell, Mark Schroeder, Gary Caplinger, and Tommy Phillips. Burial will be in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Rev. Vestal Blakely will be presiding at all services.
