Services for William Cecil Caplinger, 80, of Spur were Friday, December 19, 1997 at the First Baptist Church in Spur. Revs. Tommy Henderson and Richard Harbison officiated. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.
Mr. Caplinger died Wednesday, December 17, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.
Mr. Caplinger was born December 26, 1916 in McKinney, Texas. He lived most of his life in Spur and was a 1936 graduate of Spur High School. He married Ruth Turpen July 4, 1937 in Spur. He was a farmer and a World War II Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Caplinger, Spur; two brothers, Ray Caplinger, Idalou; Ernest Caplinger, Lubbock.

SPUR Ruth Caplinger went to be with the Lord Monday April 30, 2012. She was born on August 24, 1920 to Ocie and Vela Slaton Turpen in Denison, Texas.
Ruth worked for WTU for 28 years upon her retirement. Her passion was working with the young ones in the First Baptist Church in Spur, Texas.
She is survived by two sisters, Bonnie D. Rankin of Spur, Texas and Patsy Collins of Plano, Texas and Aunt Chloe Sims of Eunice, N.M. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Caplinger; her parents, Ocie and Vela Turpen; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday May 2, 2012 and services will the on Thursday May 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Spur, Texas with Rory Mosley officiating under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur, Texas.
