Obituary

Robert Cannon, an " old timer" of Crosby County, was claimed by death Wednesday, July 27. He was 71.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 29, in First Baptist Church of Spur.

Mr. Cannon was born May 26, 1906, in Afton. At age 10 he moved to Crosby County, where he resided on White River until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Johnnye Cannon; two sons, Henry Cannon and Leroy Cannon, both of Spur; a daughter, Robbie Jester of Levelland; four grandchildren, Trey, Tracy, Christy and Chuck; two brothers, C.W. Cannon of Dickens and Ross Cannon of Wilcox, Arizona; one sister, Mrs. Grace McLaren of Seminole; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Burial was made in Spur Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were: Glen Jones, Darl Walker, Bill Carlisle, Lee Kidd, Bill Fry, and Elmer McCombs.

Johnnye Beth Cannon 94, passed away August 20, 2010 at UMC in Lubbock. She was born on July 26, 1916 in Montage County to John W. and Elizibeth Harvey. She married Robert William Cannon in Crosbyton, Texas on August 28, 1936.

Johnnye Beth Cannon was a homemaker. She enjoyed following Tech Basketball and did not miss a game if at all possible. She was a huge fan of Marsha Sharp. She also enjoyed the WNBA with her favorite player being Sheryl Swoops. She enjoyed cooking for others and she read books by the thousands until her eye sight failed her. Johnnye also played volleyball when she was in school and at the age of 92 she started playing bingo and learned to love it and she will be missed by all of her nursing home friends playing bingo.

Johnnye is survived children, two sons, Harvey Cannon; and Leroy Cannon; and one daughter Robbie Fusselman all of Spur, Texas. She is also survived by one sister Pauline Jenkins of Edgewood, Tx; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Johnnye Beth Cannon will be Monday August 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spur Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Henderson officiating under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
