Bill Campbell Services for W.S. (Bill) Campbell III, 54, of Ruidoso, NM, formerly of Spur, were Sunday, January 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Spur, Texas with the Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Interment was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Bill died December 29, 2005 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was born in Spur, Texas on January 2, 1951 to William Spencer Campbell Jr. and Martha Nichols Campbell. He married Stacy Hoover on November 24, 1979.

Bill dedicated 28 years of his life to the Funeral Profession and public service.

He was Owner/Operator of Campbell Funeral Home in Spur 1974-2003. He was president of the Spur Cemetery Association from 1981-2002. Bill was a 1969 graduate of Spur High School. He attended Texas Tech and South Plains College, and was a 1974 graduate of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Spur Lions Club, Spur Golf Club, Spur Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Board of Directors of White River Water District, Spur City Council and Spur Ex-Student Association. Bill was honored as Lion of the Year in 1985 and 1993; Outstanding Ex-Student in 1988; VFW Citizen of the Year in 1986 and West Texas Funeral Director of the Year in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy of Ruidoso, NM; one son, Spence and wife, Kristen of Round Rock, Texas; one daughter Kyla of Abilene; two sisters Linda Mahan of Farmington, NM and Martha Browning of Tucson, AZ and his Mother-in-law, Robbie Hoover of Spur.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 415, Spur, TX 79370 or Spur Memorial Cemetery, P.O. Box 111, Spur, TX 79370
