Services for John Roy Callicoate, 85, Aspermont, formerly of Spur, were held at 2 p.m., January 25, in the First Baptist Church, Spur, with church pastor Dr. Genoa Goad officiating.

Callicoatte died about 8:25 p.m. in Humana Hospital, Abilene, on January 23, following a lengthy illness. He was born September 20, 1902 in Stamford, but had lived in Dickens County since 1948, before moving to Aspermont 18 months ago.

He married Vasta Conner Biddy on August 24, 1944, in Bowie. She died on February 8, 1973. A welder and mechanic, he was employed for many years at the Pitchfork Ranch and later established his own business in Spur.

Survivors include a step-son, Maurice Biddy and daughter-in-law, Billie Jean Biddy, of San Angelo; one niece, Gracie Killough, Dimmitt.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
