Services Held May 25 for Mrs. Sam Caldwell

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25, for Mrs. Robbie Lee Caldwell, 31, at the First Methodist Church in Spur at 11 a.m. Rev. Raymond Fan Zandt, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiated.

Mrs. Caldwell died Thursday, May 23, of Hodgkin´s disease, in an Albuquerque, NM hospital, where she had been moved to from a Durango, Colorado hospital after her condition became serious. She had been in ill health the past several months.

She was born Sept. 24, 1914, at Eddy, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. I.A. Abernathy. She moved with her parents to Spur the same year. Graduating from the Spur High School with the class of 1931. In July 1934, she was married to Sam Caldwell of Crosbyton, in Lubbock, Texas. Living in Crosbyton until August 1941, at which time Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell moved to Mancos, Colorado, where they lived at the time of her demise.

She was united with the First Methodist Church in Spur in July 1924.

Robbie Lee, as we all knew her, had many friends and was loved by all who knew her.

Pallbearers were J.W. Henry, Coy McMahon, H.M. Christian, Jack Rector, O.W. Young and Adrian Rickels.

Survivors were her husband, Sam Caldwell, of Mancos, Colorado; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I.A. Abernathy of Spur; sisters, Mrs. L.E. Lee, Mrs. Horace Gibson, Mrs. W.H. Pearce, Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, D.S. Abernathy of Menard, W.E. Abernathy of Pampa and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Margie Caldwell of Amarillo.

Interment was in the Spur cemetery with Campbell Funeral Chapel in charge.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs.. W.E. Abernathy and family from Pampa; Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Abernathy of Menard, Mrs. Haden Pearce of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Any Hurst, Jr. of Lubbock, Mrs. Mary Caldwell of Lubbock, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Ogle of Amarillo, Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Guyberson of Ft. Worth, Guy Caldwell of Hart, Texas and Margie Caldwell of Amarillo
