J. W. Brown was born in Sabano and raised and attended school in Spur in the 1920´ and 1930´s. He was born in 1918 and died in 1981 and is buried in the Spur Cemetery in the Rex and Vivian Merriman lot.He married Hogla (Opal) Garcia while stationed at Fort McIntosh, Laredo, Texas, and they had four sons: Bennie G. Brown, born in Laredo, Joe E. Brown, John L. Brown, and Jim W. Brown, all born in San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services are pending for J.W. Brown, 63, of Chelan, Washington, and formerly of Spur.He was killed in a car accident Novermber 21 near Chela. He attended school in Spur. After discharged from the army he moved to San Antonio. In 1948 he moved to Kirkland, Washington where he was employed as a mechanic. He had lived in Cheland since 1971.
A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include four sons, Ben Brown, Paso Robles, CA; Le, Joe and Jim Brown, all of Washington state and 14 grandchildren.
Burial will be in Spur Cemetery with Campbell´s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for J.W. Brown, mentioned in last week´s paper as pending, were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at graveside in Spur Cemetery.Rev. Norris Taylor, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated.
Mr. Brown was killed in a car accident near Chelan, Washington on November 21.
