He rolled off of a stack of mattresses when he was 3 months old and they thought that was the reason of his disability. He was never able to attend school, but he learned to read and do math at home. Services for Joe Boykin Tuesday
Funeral services for Joe Boykin, 28, were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, from the family home four mi. east of Spur. Rev. W.B. Bennett local Baptist minister officiated.Pallbearers were Hugh Duncan, Lavon Thornton, Claude Gregory, Warren Formby, Glen Havens, and Winfred Scott. Flower bearers were Pansy Drennan, Lahoma Gregory, Robby Nell Scott.
Interment was made in the Spur Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Chapel.
Joe Boykin was born at Swenson Stonewall County, TX, May 27, 1912. He was 28 years, 6 months and 3 days old at the time of death which occurred Monday December 2nd at 4:00 a.m. at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Boykin.
