Funeral services for S.R. Bowman who died Monday, Jan. 8, were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Spur, with the Rev. Herman Coe, pastor, officiating.Interment was in the Spur Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bowman was born at Titus Co., TX Feb. 25, 1862. He was converted when a young man and joined the Baptist church at the age of 27. He would have been 83 on his next birthday, Feb. 25.
He was married to Miss Susie Murphy July 15, 1889. To them were born five children, including one daughter, deceased, Mrs. Ray Sanders. They moved to Dickens County in January, 1912.
Pallbearers were: J.A. Marsh, A.B. Hogan, Joe Long, Lawis Lee, Neal Chastain and Coy McMahan.
Flowerbearers were Mrs. Luella Powell, Mrs. Turvin, Mrs. J.A. Marsh, Mrs. S.S. Powell, Mrs. D.H. Sullivan and Mrs. L.W. Langston.
Survivors are: wife, Mrs. Susie Bowman; children: Mrs. S.H. Twaddell, Mrs. Lee Sanders, A.M. Bowman, J. Bowman and Mrs. G.B. Whittle.
One sister, Mrs. T.E. Wright, Haskell; one half-brother, Bob Bowman, Chillicothe; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
The children attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Twaddell, Amarillo; M.G.B. Whittle, Madill, OK; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sanders, Albany; Mrs. Ray Sanders, Hubbard; Grandson with the Merchant Marines, Ray Bowman Sanders; Mr. and Mrs. James Sanders, Albany; Mr. and Mrs. Will Suddith and Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Murphy, Girard.

Mrs. Susie Mae Bowman a resident of Spur for 32 years, died of a heart attack Thursday, July 5, at her home in Spur.Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist church, Spur, with Rev. C.N. Gilbert, pastor officiating. Interment in Spur cemetery.
Born Feb. 1, 1876 in Hill Co., TX, Mrs. Bowman, on July 15, 1889 in Milford, TX married the late S.R. Bowman, who preceded her in death by only a few months.
The deceased is a member of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Bowman is survived by Mrs. Will Suddath of Spur; Mrs. A.J. Hill and Miss Eva Murphy of Hubbard; Mrs. J.A.Murphy of Girard; Mrs. D.E. Wells of Knox City; Mrs. S.H. Twaddell of Amarillo; Mrs. L.A Sanders of Albany; A.M. Bowman and J.L. Bowman of California and Mrs. G.B. Whittle of Madell, OK.
Pallbearers were George Gabriel, Lawis Lee, Neal Chastain, Coy McMahan, L.D. Ratliff and Penn Shugart.
Campbell Funeral Chapel had charge of the services.
