Obituary

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the First Methodist church for Eustace Boulet Blumberg, 59, a retired rural mail carrier and stock farmer.

Rev. William D. McReynolds officiated at the service.

Mr. Blumberg died in the early morning hours Sunday, Jan 17. He had been ill for some time.

He first came to Dickens county in 1925 and resided here until 1936 when he moved to Port Arthur and stayed until 1950. He had resided in Spur since that year.

Mr. Blumberg was a member of the Methodist church. A veteran of World War II, he was very active in veterans organizations and was at one time a State and National officer of the VFW. He was also a member of the American Legion. Mr. Blumberg served for eight years as a member of the White River Water District board of Directors, resigning his position only due to his health. He was a member of the organizing board of the water district.

Primarily under his direction most of Spur´s businesses posses an American flag which is flown on proper occasions. Businessmen flew their flags in his honor on the day of his funeral.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ann Blumberg; one brother, W.E. Blumberg, Houston; one sister, Mrs. C.P. Mason, Waller; three nephews and one niece.

Pallbearers included Dr. Bob Alexander, Buddy Wright, Blue Stephens, Billy Dan Bingham, Pete Day, Travis Hoover, Pat Winkler, and Clomer Rndall.

Honorary pallbearers included Lynn Burbee, Guy Karr, Neal Chastain, Dick Wright, W.R. Weaver, Lee Snodgrass, R.J. Bell, D.L. Knight, Junior Spraberry, Lane Ericson, G.W. Grimes and Loyd Womack.

Burial was in Spur cemetery with military services at gravesite.

Funeral services were held for Ann Blumberg, 86, Spur, on Thursday, June 2, 1994 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist church, Spur, Rev. Jack Moffatt, pastor officiated.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Mrs. Blumberg died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 1994 in Hi Plains Hospital, Hale Center, Texas.

She was born in Hillsboro, Texas on February 14, 1908,. She had lived in Spur since 1950 coming from Port Arthur. She married E.B. Blumberg in Port Arthur on July 20, 1946. He died in January of 1965.

Mrs. Blumberg taught for 43 years in primary grades in Monahans, Port Arthur and Spur schools. She was a member of the Methodist church and also taught Sunday School for many years. She was a charter member of the Spur VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include a sister, Ila Johnston, Spur and two nephews, Leslie Albin, Austin and John Albin, Lubbock; four great-nieces, one great-nephew, and one great-great-nephew.

Pallbearers were Bunky Garner, Benny Ball, Randy Arnold, Robert Daughtry, Robert Pierce and Larry Martin.
