Ned Blackwell, 76, of Lubbock died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1928 in Spur to the late Dr. and Mrs. T.H. Blackwell. He graduated from Spur High School in 1946 and attended McMurry College and West Texas State University. He worked for the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington D.C. and was active in the Masonic Lodge and Kiwanis Club. After retirement, he lived at Carillon in Lubbock. Ned is survived by a sister, Royce Karr of Dickens; a niece; Kay Moore of Millsap; and a nephew; Don Karr of Dickens. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Burton, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.©Lubbock Avalanche Journal, Wednesday, September 1, 2004
