Mrs. D.A. Bennett Died Here Past Week

Mrs. D.A. Bennett, of Mt. Blanco, near Crosbyton, died at the local sanitarium at 12 o´clock Sunday morning, March 19th, peritonitis being given as the cause of her death. Mrs. Bennett had been brought here for treatment following several days illness but her condition was such that an operation could not be performed and death came before she could be relieved.

She is survived by her husband, D.A. (Bill) Bennett and 3 children: Billie 8, Bryan 3, and Janet 15 months of age.

Funeral services were held here and interment made in Spur cemetery at 2:30 Sunday afternoon.

Lela Bennett (Mrs. D.A. Bennett)

Mrs. Lela Bennett was born December 3rd, 1905 in Pontetoc County, Mississippi. She came with her parents, Mr. And Mrs. McCullough, to Texas in 1920 to live in the Steel Hill Community. She was married to D.A. Bennett in 1924. To this union was born four children, three of whom are living, one child dying about two years ago.

Mrs. Bennett made a profession of religion in summer of 1921, and united with the Steel Hill Baptist Church. She was brought to the Nichols sanitarium Sunday March 12th in a very serious condition but linger one week, dying March 19th, 1933. She was 27 years, three months, and 16 days old. She leaves her husband, three children, father, mother, seven sisters, two brothers and various other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held in the Spur Baptist Church by her former pastor, Rev. A.P. Stokes under whose preaching she was converted and baptized.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery. Webber Williams, acting as funeral director.

The bereaved relatives have our heartfelt sympathy, but we all hope to meet again in the sweet-by-and-by where parting will be no more.-----contributed.
