Obituary

  Services for Billy Dee Bell, 72, of Lubbock, formerly of Spur, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 1994 in the First United Methodist church, Spur. Rev. Bruce Parks, Lubbock and Rev. Jack Moffatt, Spur pastor, officiated.

Mr. Bell died suddenly September 1 in St. Mary Hospital, Lubbock. Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Bell was born in Spur on December 19, 1921. He was a graduate of Spur High School, class of 1939. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II and was a heavy equipment salesman.

He was past president of the Spur Ex-Student Association, a 32nd degree Mason with the York Rite and the Scottish Rite. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist church in Lubbock. (Bell was chairman of the building committee of the First United Church in Spur when the new church building was approved and constructed).

Bill Bell and the former Sammie McGee wee married July 8, 1942 in San Antonio.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Mack Bell, Houston; two daughters, Susie Morris, Spearman and Becky Rogers, Kingsland, GA; two brothers, R.J. Bell Matador and Joe Bell, Odessa; a sister, Winfred Barrett of Lubbock and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Hardy Bell, Duke Bell, Roddy Bell, Mike Thomas, Junior Long and Donnie Swink.

Memorials may be made to the Spur Memorial Cemetery and the First United Methodist Church, Spur.
