Mrs. Jimmie Ann Battles, 81, a resident of Dickens County since 1926, died at her home here at 2:45 a.m. Sunday following a long illness.Funeral services were held Tues. at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Riley Fugitt officiating, assisted by Jessie L. Chaney.
Survivors include the husband, Sam Battles, two sons, Royal Battles, Borger, and Rose Battles, Colonial Heights, VA; two daughters, Mary Ann Stone, Miami, FL, and Mozelle Day, Huntington Beach, CA; two brothers, J.P. McCarley, Jewett and E.C. McCarley, Vernon; two sisters, Mrs. E.S. Atwood, Tayler and Mrs. Bessie Green, Modesto, CA and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were J.B. Kimmel, Jack East, Fred Arrington, Hubert Karr and A.J. Harvey, Alton Delisle, and honorary pallbearers included Doug Allen, Seals Earnest, Earl Thomason, Roscoe McCombs, W.E. Ball, and John T. Kimmel.
Interment was in Spur Cemetery.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church for Samuel Tilden Battles, 84. He died April 17 in Spur Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.Rev. W.L. Kite officiated at the service assisted by Rev. Victor Crabtee.
Mr. Battles first came to Dickens County in 1924. He was born in Attallo, Alabama. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, R.C. Borger; and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Stone, Miami, FL. and Mrs. Mozelle Day, Huntington Beach, CA; one sister, Mrs. Florence Ridlehuber, Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Mansell Bragg Floy Watson, Earl Thomason, George Gabriel, Jackson East and Hubert Karr.
Interment was in Spur cemetery.
