Services for Hazle Mildred Barclay, 82, were at 3 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Norris Taylor, Idalou, formerly of Spur and Rev. Genoa Goad, Spur church pastor officiating.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barclay died about 4:25 a.m. in the Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 3, 1909 in Campbell, Texas and had resided in Spur since 1945. A homemaker, she attended East Texas State University and was a member of the Baptist Church,. She married Claude Barclay June 11, 1950 in Whiteface.

Survivors include her husband, Claude Barclay, Spur; two sons, Joe Barclay, Lubbock and Winston Barclay, Midland; two daughters, Margie Barclay, Lubbock and Melba Camp, Amarillo; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included grandsons Dale Hooper, Dan Hooper, Dennis Hooper, Chrales Smith, Ross Owen, Donald Rude; Steve Warren and Clay Barclay.

Honorary pallbearers included Fred Neaves, Lewis Smith, D.J. Dyess, Mansell Bragg, Randy Clifton, Frank Hale, Lloyd Hindman, Dr. Bob Alexander and J.H. Taylor.

Claud Barclay photo Services for Claud William Barclay, 93, of Spur will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 1999 at the First Baptist Church of Spur. Rev. Norris Taylor of Idalou and Rev. Richard Harbison, pastor will officiate.

Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

Claud died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999 at the Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Lubbock. He was born Jan. 29, 1905, in Quitman, Texas. He moved to Dickens County with his family as a young boy living in the Afton, McAdoo, and Spur communities. He married Erma West in 1923, in Spur. They spent their early years of marriage in Spur and Ft. Worth where Claud attended Barber School graduating in 1927. His first barber shop was in Afton in 1928. He then moved to Petersburg and barbered there for 17 years. Claud moved back to Spur in 1945 to farm and barber. His wife Erma preceded him in death December 6, 1949. He then married Hazle Campbell on June 11, 1950, in Whiteface, and she preceded him in death Aug. 16, 1991. He retired in February 1994 at the age of 88 having a barber career spanning almost 66 years.

Claud was a member of First Baptist Church in Spur, where he was a Deacon and served as Sunday School superintendent for several years. He filled every post from teacher to treasurer. He served on the Board of Equalization for three years and the City Council for two years. He was past president of the Lions Club, and accumulated 40 years of service before retiring as an honorary member.

He is preceded in death by his four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include two sons, Winston Barclay, Midland; Joe Barclay,of Lubbock; two daughters, Margie Barclay, of Lubbock; Melba Camp, Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
