Funeral services for George Edward Austin, 83, were held, September 25, at 3 p.m. in the Highway 70 Church of Christ with Kenneth Avaritt, Benton AR, officiating, assisted by Bud England, Snyder.
Austin died at his home in Spur about 7:35 p.m. on September 23, of an apparent heart attack. Born August 22, 1903, in Dickens County, he was a retired farmer and had lived all of his life here. He was a member of the Steele Hill Church of Christ.
He married the former Lillian Randall on December 21, 1925, in Dickens.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Austin, Spur; two brothers, Jay Austin, Spur and L.D. Austin, Springerville, AR; two sisters, Emma Witt, Crosbyton and Pearl Stovall, New York.
Pallbearers included Jerry Randall, Johnny Randall, Robert Pierce, George Witt, Ray Faubus, and Dickey Austin. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Grantham, Don Ramsey, E.A. Bilberry, Garner Young, Jim Wyatt, Dwight Dillashaw and Jackie Young.
Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Services for Lora Lillian Austin, 87, Spur, were at 3 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Steel Hill Church of Christ.
Kenneth Avaritt, Benton, AR, officiated. Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Austin died about 11:15 a.m. on November 20 in the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in the Steel Hill community and had lived in Dickens County all her life.
She married George Austin on December 21, 1925 in Dickens. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1986. She was a member of the Spur VFW Auxiliary and the Steel Hill Church of Christ.
She is survived by a brother, J.C. Randall, Spur; 3 nephews, J.W. Newby, San Diego, CA; Jerry Randall, Lubbock, and Johnny Randall, Plano.
Pallbearers included Edd Dillashaw, Dannie Randall, Bret Austin, Dwight Dillashaw, Russell Austin and Jody Young.
