John Aston, 74, Buried Monday

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for John Aston, 74, who died suddenly August 31.

He had suffered a heart condition, but was apparently progressing when he was stricken.

Born on September 25, 1886 in Buffalo Gap, Texas, Mr. Aston came to Dickens County in 1911. In 1906 he married the former Annie Foster Crump. They made their first home in Buffalo Gap.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and joined the Methodist Church in 1916. Mr. Aston was a retired farmer, and only recently had moved into Spur.

Rev. William McReynolds officiated at the service. He was assisted by Rev. Lonnie Eakle, Smyer, and Rev. Appel, of Foreman Chapel.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Rickels, Spur; Mrs. Bud Rennels, Abilene and Mrs. Pete McLaughlin, Midland; one son, John Aston III, Spur and one sister, Mrs. Jim Dillard, Albuquerque, NM.

Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers included Lee Snodgrass, Bill Bell, Jesse Morrison, L.O. Robertson, Ollie Hindman, Dr. Bob Alexander, Alfred Walker, Joe Harrison and Lynn Buzbee.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery.
