Services for Clyde G. Starrett, 77 and his grandson, Curtis Dwane Armstrong, 15, both of Spur were held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Norris Taylor officiating, assisted by Leonard Sims, pastor of Pansy Baptist Church. Burial was in the Spur Cemetery directed by Campbell Funeral Home.
Starrett was killed and Armstrong fatally injured about 12:30 p.m. Friday when their car was in collision with a tractor-trailer rig less than a mile Southeast of Post on U.S. 84.
The youth died at 3:15 in a Lubbock hospital.
Starrett had lived in Spur since March 1970, while his grandson moved there about a week ago.
Starrett´s survivors include his wife, Eva; five daughters, Mrs. LaVerne Waldrop of 1323 28th St., Lubbock, Mrs. Melba Jackson of Big Spring, Mrs. LoNeta Reid of Hurst, Mrs. Vella Harris of Dickens, and Mrs. Ava Carlisle of Spur; a sister, Mrs. Joe Lambert of Hobbs; and four great grandchildren.
Young Armstrong was a lifetime resident of Lubbock before moving to Spur. He is survived by his mother Mrs. Carlisle, his father W.D. Armstrong of Dallas; a sister, Chris of Spur; and grandparents, Mrs. Starrett of Spur and Mrs. R.E. Armstrong of Lubbock.
