William Lee ARMSTRONG and Sallie WHATLEY were united in marriage at Foss, Oklahoma on September 7, 1902. Both of their fathers were Civil War Veterans. To this union were born seven children all born at Cordell, Oklahoma; except Jack who was born February, 1924 after they came to Dickens County in August, 1923. At that time they lived about 3 miles south of Dickens. Later they moved to the Clifford B. JONES farm in the Espuela Community and in 1929 they moved to another farm owned by Clifford B. JONES about 2 1/2 miles northwest of Spur.
Ennis, the oldest son, married Pauline HARRIS, daughter of W. A. HARRIS, one of the pioneer families of Dickens County. Elza (W.E.) married Zelma KIDD a member of the early settlers of the Dry Lake Community. Estelle married Harold BLAIR, son of Jim BLAIR from Dickens. Lacy married Mildred BRIGHT from Abilene, Texas on December 22, 1943 in Lubbock. She was employed with Farm Security in Spur. They lived in Spur, Petersburg, Olton, Dalhart, and Dumas where Lacy was engaged in farming. Their son Lacy Douglas was born in 1949. Iris married Laurel K. BAKER on November 26, 1932 in Spur. He was from the Foreman Chapel Community which was in the Dry Lake school district. They lived in McAllen, Texas for 18 years, Denver City for 25 years and retired in Lubbock, Texas. She worked in a bank for 30 years and L.K. was in auto parts. R.D. and Jack were both in the army during World War II, met and married girls from the north part of the United States. R.D. married Marion MICHNER from Bay City, Michigan and Jack married Eileen HAYWARD from Oberlin, Kansas. Lee ARMSTRONG died December 1943 and Sallie in April 1946. Both are buried in the Spur Cemetery. The three elder children - Ennis, Elza, and Estelle have passed on and are buried in Resthaven Cemetery, Lubbock, Texas.

Last rites will be observed Thursday, April 18, at 3 p.m. at the Church of Christ for Mrs. Sally B. Armstrong former resident of Dickens county. Roy Deaver pastor, will officiate.
Born Sally Whatley, July 26, 1877, in Commanche, TX, Mrs. Armstrong was married to the late W.L.Armstrong at Cordell, OK. Mr. Armstrong died Dec. 6, 1943 and was buried in the Spur cemetery.
In January of this year Mrs. Armstrong moved to McAllen, TX where she passed away. She was converted an an early age and is affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Pallbearers are Jack Gipson, Johnnie Koonsman, George Sloan, Fred Arrington, Eric Ousley and H.R. Costolow.
Survivors are: Children, Ennis of Lubbock; Elza of Lamesa; Mrs. Harold Blair of Matador; Mrs. L. E. Baker of McAllen; R.D. of Lansing, Mich. and Lacy of Spur, James E. Whatley, a brother of the state of Washington; Robert Whatley of Stockton, CA; Mrs. S.L. Andrews of Pampa; Mrs. J.J. Albin of Spur; Mrs. W.W. McDale of Wildorado; Mrs. Floyd LePel of Indiana and Mrs. Joe Hooper of CA.
Campbell Funeral Chapel was in charge with interment in Spur cemetery.
