Obituary

Funeral services for John T. Anderson, 72, were held at the Bethel Baptist church in Spur at 5:30 p.m., September 18, 1951, with Rev. Dock Love officiating.

Anderson came to Dickens county in 1930, and lived three miles east of Spur until his death on Monday, September 17. He was born on June 24, 1878 in Sherman, Texas. Pallbearers were Raymond Bailey, Obie Nelson, R.H. Wright, George Austin, M.Erath and Marion Randall.

Interment was in the Spur cemetery with Campbell Funeral chapel in charge.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Laura Anderson; three daughters: Evelene Herd, Portland, Oregon; Elsie Hinton, Gladewater; and Mae Hendricks of Wyoming; two sons: Floyd of Irving and Allen of Louisville, Kentucky; three brothers, Jim, Rube and Charley; five sisters: Mary Grey, Dollie Randell, Fannie Rosh; Ethel Schweikart and Anne Boothe; 10 grandchildren and 7 greats.

Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Laura E. Anderson, 86. She died Saturday in Spur Memorial Hospital. Services were held Monday in the Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Chester Sassman pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church officiated. He was assisted by Rev. W.V. Bentley pastor of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. R.F. Meeks, Muleshoe, Mrs. George Campbell, Dallas; one son, J.B. Meeks of Venita, OK; one half-sister, Mrs. Grace Provins, Amarillo; two half-brothers, Alonzo Taylor and Robert Taylor.

Pallbearers were Alvis V. Howard, Thomas George Erath, Ruben Waddell, Buck Carlisle and Marion Jordan. Interment was in Spur Cemetery, with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
