Obituary

The little town of Spur was made to feel sorrow and regret at the passing of Mrs. E.L. Adams, on Tuesday morning, May 4th, at 1:18 at her home in Spur after a long illness.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, May 5th, in the First Christian Church of Spur, with the pastor Bro. James S. Hardinson, assisted by Rev. C.N. Gilbert, pastor of the First Baptist Church Of Spur, Bro. J.T. McKissic, of Abilene and Rev. Raymond Van Zandt of Roscor.

Mrs. Adams, who has been seriously ill for the past five years has been an inspiration to her friends and loved ones. Her supreme courage and cheerful outlook have in some measure portrayed the deep christian character that has premeditated her entire life.

Her life was lived above reproach, her christian faith never wavered, her high moral standards were unquestioned. She leaves a great heritage to her friends and her loved ones of a life well lived.

She was active in all church work, was president of the Womans Council of the Christian church for a number of years, was one of the charter members of the 1917 Study Club of Spur, and was interested in all civic movements for the betterment of her community.

She was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. T.W. Flenninken, was born in Paris, Texas and reared in Cleburne, Texas, where she was married to E.L. Adams in 1899, where they established their first home.

They lived in Haskell County, for a number of years before coming to Spur in 1917, where they have resided ever since.

Those surviving include her husband, E.L. Adams, and one daughter, Mrs. J.H. Bowman, and one granddaughter, Jimmie Nell Bowman of Spur and one grandson, Ted R. Bowman of A&M; father T.W. Flenninken, Haskell, two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Satterwhite, Hobbs, New Mexico; Mrs. Mittie Weatherly, Haskell; two brothers, Elmo, Knox City, and Noble Flenniken.

Pallbearers were R.E. Dickson, Cecil Fox, Peter Sullivan, Archer Powell, Billy Addie, E.L. Caraway.

Chandler Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements with the interment in the Spur Cemetery.
