Funeral services for Mrs. Doreatha Smith 56, were held July 3 at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church.

Rev. Vernon Hagar, Crosbyton, officiated, assisted by Rev. Perry Shuffield, Spur Assembly of God, and Rev. Norris Taylor, First Baptist pastor.

Mrs. Smith died at West Texas Hospital in Lubbock on July 2. She had been a resident of Kent and Dickens Counties since 1924. She had been a resident of Spur since November, 1973. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by her husband, Abb Smith, Spur; five daughters, Peggy Christopher, Lubbock; Patsy Condron, Spur; Bonnie Edwards, Girard, Gracie Cockrell, Oklahoma City, OK, Genda Stice, Silverton; two sons, Clarence (Fat) Smith, Spur and Bill Smith, also of Spur; one brother, J.M. (Pat) Nixon, Lubbock and her mother, Mrs. Dell Nixon, Spur, 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Flavious Alexander, Alvin Baker, J.B. Morrison, Eric Swenson, Jr., Elmer McCombs, Bill Fry, Don Gannon and Dr. Ed Murray.

Honorary pallbearers included Pete Sampson, Clyde Spray, Bill Ward, Jimmy Baker, Bug Moore, Burl Sauls, Jim and Bill Wyatt, Elmer Maben, Butch Alexander, Jay Holloway, Vernon Wright and Everett McArthur.

Burial was in Red Mud Cemetery.
