Obituary

Funeral services were held June 12 in the First Baptist Church for Henry Slack, 71. Rev. Norris Taylor officiated, assisted by Rev. Victor Crabtree, Dickens.

Mr. Slack died June 11 in St. Mary's Hospital, Lubbock. He came to Dickens County in 1918 and had lived in the White River community in Crosby County since 1940. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He worked for the Swenson Ranch from 1933 to 1940.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ivey Slack, White River; a son, Bobby Slack, Plainview; three sisters, Sally Reeves, Georgia Wilson and Effie Hilgonfeld, all of Henrietta; two grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Glen Jones, Harvey Cannon, Darl Walker, Fred Neaves, Donnie Duboise and Lee Kidd. Honorary pallbearers included Buran Jones, Clark Jones, Donnie Pace, Leon Greer, Doyle Hinson, Chap Reese, Robert Cannon, Marion Jordan, Johnny Holbrook and M.B. Stanton.

Burial was in Red Mud Cemetery.

Services for Ivey S. Slack, 90, of Plainview, (formerly of White River Lake) were at 11 a.m., September 29, 1995 in the White River Lake Chapel. Rev. Jerry Graham, Lubbock, officiated.

Burial was in Red Mud Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Slack died September 27 at 9:50 a.m. in the Prairie House Living Center, Plainview. Death was ruled due to natural causes.

She was born March 15, 1905 in Clay County, Texas, and had lived in the White River community since 1911. She moved to Wolfforth in 1992 and to Plainview in 1994. She married Henry C. Slack, January 2, 1927. He preceded her in death in 1975.

Mrs. Slack taught school at Kalgary from 1941 until 1947. She was also a gatekeeper for White River Municipal Water District for several years.

She is survived by one son, Bobby Slack, Plainview; two grandsons, Mike and Mark Slack, both of Plainview and two great grandchildren, Brent and Darin Slack, also of Plainview.

Pallbearers were John Holbrooks, Maynard Brown, Winston Fitzgerald, Glinn Jones, Harvey Cannon and Loyd Rinehart.
