Pioneer Spur Rancher Dies
A retired rancher and member of a well known Dickens County family, William Charles (Bill) McArthur, 75, died Monday in Spur Memorial Hospital following a long illness.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the First Methodist Church of Spur with the Rev. Cal Wright, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Red Mud community cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
McArthur came to the Spur area in 1887. He resided many years in the Red Mud community and was engaged in ranching.
Survivors include a son, Floyd McArthur, Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Bill Gregory, Spur, and Mrs. Wilson Irwin, Napa, Calif.; a brother, Ed McArthur, Spur; a sister, Mrs. Willie Scott, Spur; and seven grandchildren.
