SPUR (Special) — Graveside services for Dee George McArthur, 91, of Spur will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Red Mud Cemetery with Charles Ball, minister of the Highway 70 Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

McArthur died Friday, March 28, 1997, in Crosbyton Hospital.

He was born Jan. 14, 1906, in Dickens County. He married Fay Gist on Sept. 23, 1933, in Loraine. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was a law officer in Longview from 1932 to 1933. He worked for Gabriel's, McGee's John Deere House and Chastain's Hardware. He worked in the livestock business.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Douglas of College Station; a daughter, Merry Dee Wood of Shawnee, Kan.; a sister, Lorene McClung of San Angelo; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Fay Gist McArthur, 96, of Shawnee Mission, KS and formerly of Spur, died Monday, September 29,2008. A Memorial Service was held on October 2, at Lenexa Church of Christ in Shawnee Mission. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm Friday April 10, 2009 at the Red Mud Cemetery. Fay was born September 25, 1912 in Martin Co., Texas to Sanford and Mary Jane Heath Gist. She married Dee McArthur September 23, 1933 in Loraine, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1997. Fay worked as an insurance clerk and then as a probation officer over a span of 33 years. She was a memeber of Hwy. 70 Church of Christ.

Fay is survived by one daughter, Merry Wood of Shawnee, KS; one son, Douglas McArthur of Laguna Vista, Tx; four grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
