Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the Spur Church of Christ for Hubert Thomas Howell, 59. Rev. L.C. Bollinger, Hereford, officiated, assisted by C.V. Allen.Mr. Howell died Sept. 9 in the Crosbyton Hospital following a short illness. Born in Dickens County he made his early home in Dickens and Afton and moved to Spur in 1950. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. H. T. Howell of the home; six sons, Edd Howell, Joe Howell and Gary Howell, all of Spur; Vaughn Howell, Amarillo; Lavoy Howell, Friona, and Derrel Howell, Vernon; his father, W. P. Howell, Crosbyton; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Moudy, Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Med McCelroy, Crosbyton; Mrs. Thelma Hinson, Kalgary, Tex., and Mrs. Bert Robinett, Smyer, Tex., and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Farris McCarty, Doyle Hinson, Burt Robinett, Don Gannon, Raymond Bailey, Buck Thompson.
Interment was in Red Mud Cemetery.

Graveside services for Lois Irene Howell, 87, of Spur were at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 1997, at Red Mud Cemetery. Rev. Charles Ball officiated. Burial was under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.Mrs. Howell died Sunday at the Spur Nursing Home.
Mrs. Howell was born in Kent County on December 27, 1909. She graduated from Spur High School in 1928. She married Hubert Howell May 6, 1929 in Dickens. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Howell preceded her in death September 9, 1966, as did two sons, Ed in 1986 and Glenn in 1996.
Survivors include four sons, Vaughn Howell, Llano; Earl Howell, Sweetwater; Joe Howell, Spur; Gary Howell, Llano; thirteen grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
