Services were held Monday, August 2, 1993, in the First Baptist Church, Spur, for Douglas Hinson, 71, of Spur. Church pastor Rev.Genoa Goad officiated and Rev. Norris Taylor, a former Spur pastor, now of Idalou, assisted.

Burial was in Red Mud Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hinson died about 3:55 a.m. July 31 in Methodist Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Dickens County and had resided here most of his life.

He married Mary Reid on Ocotber 11, 1941 in Red Mud community. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Spur Masonic Lodge; he was a former vice president and member of the board of Dickens Electric Cooperative for 12 years; he was also a former director of the Farmer´s CoOp Gin, Spur, for many years and also served as a member of he Agricultural Stablization and Conservation board. He raised registered cattle and horses and farmed. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife of Spur; three daughters, Donna Clark, Spur; Betty Bliss, Littleton, Colorado; and Linda Hinson, Dallas; three grandchildren.

A son, Scooter HInson, preceded him in death in 1974 and a grandson, Brian Douglas Clark, died in 1986.

Pallbearers included Darl Walker, Preston Givens, Randy Arnold, Billy Hale, Darrell Thomason, Doyle King, Garth Gregory, Don Morrison and Richard Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers were Wilburn Ball, Ford Taylor, Snooks Williams, Alfton Clark, Mutt Hagins, Leon Greer, Elmer Maben and Jesse Morrison.
