Obituary

SPUR (Special) - Services for W.W. "Bill" Gregory, 86, of Spur will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Burton, pastor, and E.L. Caraway of Dallas and Kermit Wooley of Spur officiating.

Burial will be in Red Mud Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Gregory died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, in Spur.

He was born June 1, 1912, in Baylor County. He married Lily McArthur on Dec. 25, 1935, in Spur. He moved to Spur in 1946. He received a degree in agriculture from Texas Tech University, and he received a master´s degree in agriculture education. He was a member of the Spur Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as fire marshal from 1955 to 1985. He was president of the Rotary Club in 1958. He was chairman of the Dickens County Democratic Party Committee from 1978 to 1983. He was a coordinator for the Government Grant Program for the City of Spur from 1980 to 1985. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, and he was active in the Dickens County Junior Livestock Show.

He taught vocational agriculture for 46 years. He was a farmer and rancher. He was the swine superintendent for the South Plains Livestock Association.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mary Ann "Cookie" Gregory of Nashville, Tenn., Betty Reding of Sanger and Billie Sue Park of Palmdale, Calif.; two sisters, Florence Benson and Evelyn Anderson, both of Lamesa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Lily Gregory, 86, of Spur were Saturday, December 4, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Burton and the Rev. Priscilla Neaves of Dallas officiating. Burial was in Red Mud Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

She died December 2, 1999 at Crescent Care Center in Spur. She was born June 27, 1913 in Spur. She lived most of her life in Dickens County. She was a 1930 graduate of Spur High School. She attended Texas Womens University in Denton and Texas Tech in Lubbock. She married W. W. "Bill" Gregory December 25, 1935 in Spur. He preceded her in death June 23, 1998.

She was a Methodist and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a founding member of the Spur Ex-Student Association, the Museum, and the Spur Library. She was awarded the Outstanding Ex-Student Award in 1990. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the White River Municipal Water District. She was awarded from the State of Texas the Family Land Heritage Certificate of Honor to RED MUD ACRES (Gregory Farm) founded in 1984.

Survivors include three daughters, Billie Sue Park of Palmdale, CA; Mary Ann "Cookie" Gregory of Nashville, TN; and Betty Reding of Sanger, TX; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jim Bob Horn, Woody McArthur, Jimmy Pickens, Eric Swenson, Brandon White and Kermit Woolley.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 528 N. Burlington, Spur, TX 73970.
