Funeral services are scheduled in the Bethel Baptist church at 2:30 this afternoon (Thursday) for Tommie L. Elkins, 45, a former long time resident of Spur.

He died at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Veterans Hospital in Big Spring following a long illness. Rev. C. O. Hitt, Chaplain at the Veterans Hospital, Big Springs, will officiate. He will be assisted by Rev. J. E. Lee, pastor. Interment will be in the Red Mud Cemetery, Campbell´s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Inez Elkins, Big Spring; one daughter, Miss Vickie Elkins, Big Spring and seven sisters, Mrs. Sadie Terrell, Snyder; Mrs. Annie Allgood, Kermit; Mrs. Stellawilson, Artesia, N.M.; Mrs. Mattie Reed, Lubbock; Mrs. Laura A. Wilson, Perioa, Arizona; Mrs. Gladys Arlene Smith, Lubbock, and Mrs. Mildred Hilley, Oxnard, Calif.

One brother, William Newton Elkins, Sweetwater, also survives.

Pallbearers will be J. D. Taylor, C. A. Shipman, Allen Gatlin, Mart Turbeville, Cleo Murray and R. J. Bell.

SPUR (Special) — Graveside services for Beulah Inez Massey, 71, of Big Spring will be at 2 p.m. today [Tuesday, July 2, 1991] in Red Mud Cemetery with the Rev. Genoa Goad, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial is under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Massey died at 3:20 p.m. Sunday [June 30, 1991] in St. Mary of the Plains Hospital in Lubbock after an illness.

She was born [Janaury 29, 1920] in Parker County and moved from Spur to Big Spring in 1958. She married Tommy Lee Elkins in 1940. He died in [December] 1958. She married Clyde William Massey in 1962 in Big Spring. He died in 1982. She was a cook and a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Ledesma of Big Spring; a stepson, Roy Massey of Winnsboro; three stepdaughters, Roselyn Hart of Big Spring and Elizabeth Jones and Elaine Massey, both of Dallas; three brothers, Vernon Wright and Elmer Wright, both of Spur, and Paul Wright of Seguin; a sister, Pauline Holmes of Big Spring; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
