Services for Robert Louis Stephenson, 75, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 1998, in the Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton with the Rev. Ray Hamlin, an Assembly of God minister from Lubbock, officiating.

Burial followed in the McAdoo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mr. Stephenson was found dead Friday, March 20, 1998, in a Dickens County barn after being reported missing for about a week. Gail Taylor, Dickens County Justice of the Peace ruled natural causes in the death.

He was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Augusta, AR. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He served in all, the Army and Navy, and Marines. He served in W.W.II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam and was a prisoner of war twice.

He was a registered nurse and had formerly served on the Ft. Worth Police Force. He moved to the Crosbyton area about 4 years ago from Ft. Worth. He was a former resident of McAdoo.

Survivors include three sons, Scott Stephenson, Drew Stephenson, and Randy Stephenson all of Ft. Worth; two daughters, Tamara Pitts and Lisa Withers all of Ft. Worth; a brother, Vance Stephenson of Ft. Worth; a sister, Rosalyn McCullar of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the McAdoo EMS.
