Funeral services for Hattie E. Pipkin, 94, of Carrolton were held on Thursday, January 24, 1997 at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist Church, McAdoo with Reverend Tom Woodward, officiating. Mrs. Pipkin died Sunday, January 19, 1997 at Brookhaven Nursing Center in Carrolton.
Burial was in McAdoo Cemetery under the direction of Pipkin Funeral Home, Midland.
Mrs. Hattie E. Pipkin was born January 28, 1902 in Coahoma, to W.N. Jackson Norris and Martha Frances Spears. She and her family moved to Louisiana for a short time and then moved to Arkansas, then they moved back to West Texas. She later married Lawrence Bush Pipkin in March of 1920. She and Bush moved to McAdoo where they farmed for 47 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McAdoo. When they retired from the farm they moved to Lubbock. Bush Pipkin died in 1974. Then Mrs. Pipkin moved to the Colony, Texas to live with her daughter. The last four years she was living in Brookhaven Nursing Center in Carrolton, until her death.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Pipkin, Smithville; Nathaniel Pipkin, Midland; one daughter, Mary Emma Winegar, The Colony, Texas; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
