PASADENA — Hazel Harris Morgan, 94, formerly of Amarillo, died Sunday, March 16, 2008.

Arrangements were by Deer Park Funeral Directors of Deer Park.

Hazel Harris Morgan was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Jones County to George Franklin Harris and Gertrude Stokes Harris.

Hazel and Vernon were members of Will Rogers Range Riders Club and charter members of Tascosa Country Club in Amarillo. Hazel was a talented horsewoman and a trophy-winning golfer. Hazel served as a board member of the YWCA and the Amarillo Little Theatre. She was a past president of her service sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. She obtained her real estate license after Vernon's death and was in the Million Dollar Club in 1983 and 1984. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and had interests in several businesses during the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon W. Morgan; a son, Paul Morgan; three brothers, Ray, C.L. and E.W. Harris; and a sister, Ina Clark.

Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Morgan Short and husband Harold of Pasadena; seven grandchildren, Paige Short Prater of Dayton, Mark David Short of Houston, Penny Short-Goeser of Katy, Candy Hickman of Leadville, Colo., Randy Morgan and Juli Johnson, both of Amarillo, and Kimberly Braack of Denton; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
