Obituary

Funeral rites for Milton Roy McDonald of Crosbyton, a longtime McAdoo and Crosbyton resident, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, in the McAdoo Baptist Church. The Rev. Rodney Brown, pastor, and the Rev. Stanley May, pastor of the South Side Baptist Church in Canyon, officiated.

Burial was in McAdoo Cemetery, under direction of King Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were: Doug Allen, Jabez Rigsby, Lilburn Harvey, Oris Pullen,Weldon Jones, and Jack Thornhill.

The 66 year old McDonald died at his home about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday night, Oct. 13, after suffering an apparent heart attack. Justice of the Peace Clyde Davis ruled death due to natural causes.

Born July 30, 1910, in Sumerville, Tex., he and the former Vernice Bell were married Oct. 15, 1938, in Abilene.

Mr. McDonald moved with his parents to McAdoo in 1921. He was graduated from Spur High School and attended Texas Tech.

He was associated with the Department of Public Safety, Driver's License Division, in Abilene until he was drafted into the Army during World War II. McDonald served overseas as a First Lieutenant Assistant Provost Marshall.

Following his discharge from military service, he returned to McAdoo where he was engaged in farming until 1968 when he retired and later moved to Crosbyton in 1969.

Mr. McDonald was a member of McAdoo Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Venice, of Crosbyton; two sons, David McDonald of San Antonio and Thomas McDonald of Austin; two brothers, Robert McDonald of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Marshall McDonald of Palo Alto, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Pardue of Metairie, La., and Mrs. Mary Esther Searcy of Alamogardo, N.M.

Services for Venice Bell McDonald, 75, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday April 15, 1986, in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Dr. Lester Griffin, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in the McAdoo cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Crosbyton.

Mrs. McDonald died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday following a sudden illness.

She was born August 5, 1910 in Merkel, Texas and married Milton Roy McDonald October 15, 1938 in Abilene. He preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1976.

She was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church where she sung in the Choir and was the Secretary of the Adult IV Sunday School Department.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jeff Davis Chapter in Abilene and formerly employed by the Tax Assessor-Collector's office in Abilene. She was also formerly employed in the County Clerk's office in Dickens.

In Crosbyton, she was the Past President of the Harmony Club and also a member of the Garden Club. She was a former member of the PTA where she directed plays. She was a Pink Lady at the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital and formerly worked for the Crosby County Library, also a member of the Open Heart Club. She moved to McAdoo after W.W.II in 1946 and moved to Crosbyton in 1969.
