James Leo Griffin photoJames “Leo” Griffin 85 passed away June 15, 2010 at Lubbock, Texas. He was born on October 08, 1924 to Silar James and Telia Griffin in Tell, Texas.

James married Lillie Shaw on April 16, 1955 in Lovington, N.M. and moving to McAdoo where he worked as a truck driver delivering gas and butane. After retiring in 1983 moved to Lake Stanford then moved to Spur in 2001.

James is survived by his wife Lillie of Spur. He was survived by two sons Jerry Griffin and wife Judy of Brownwood; Owen Griffin and wife Karen of Lake Stanford; and two daughters Cheryl Adams and husband Harold of Dickens, Texas; Beverly Herrera and husband Manuel of Spur, Texas. He has five sisters surviving Billie Evans of Lamoni, Iowa; Modene Scott of Shamrock, Texas; June Sawyer of Odessa, Texas; Cleta Vanmeter of McAdoo, Texas; and Nita Hickman of McAdoo, Texas and one brother Bobby Griffin of Shamrock, Texas. James “Leo” is also survived by ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

James is preceded in death by his parents Silar James and Telia Griffin. Two brothers Leon Griffin and J.W. Griffin and three sisters Jolene Story; Lela Dean; and Ann Grimes also preceded him death.

Services will be held Saturday June 19, 2010 at the First Methodist Church in McAdoo, Texas at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robby Harris officiating and Rev C.L. Atkinson assisting under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the Campbell Funeral Home Friday June18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
