Phoebe Arminda Minnie Evans was born on August 16, 1870. She died on February 28, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 95.
Charlie D Gollihar was born on October 10, 1866, in Hill County, Texas, his father, John Conaway Gollihar, was 24 and his mother, Mary Perlina Stinnett, was 18. He died on March 11, 1940, in Mcadoo, Texas, at the age of 73.
Charles Gollihar and Phoebe Arminda (Minnie) Evans were married in Stephenville, Hill County, Texas on February 19, 1890; Minnie was 19 and Charlie was 24. They had six children in 17 years, all were born in Hill County. They moved to Ralls, Texas as seen in the 1930 census and later moved to McAdoo. Their house was the largest in the community. It was a large two story stucco house with large trees around it. They owned lots of land south of McAdoo and many of the newcomers got their start in McAdoo working for the Gollihars. They were members of the Methodist Church and although both are deceased they are remembered by all who lived in that area in the 1930-1960's.
Their children were:
- Maymie who married John M. Grimland. They had two sons.
- Charles Ruben Gollihar who married Stella Summer Braswell. Rueben and Stella were charter members of McAdoo Methodist Church. They are the parents of two daughters and a son.
- Edna married William F. Fahrenkamp and is the mother of two sons.
- Paige Evans Gollihar and wife Willie Marguerite Barton are the parents of two sons. The elder one died at birth, the other one is a doctor in Abilene.
Infant son died at birth in 1902 Forrest Gollihar born in 1907 died in 1908 and buried in Hill County. The two story house of the Gollihars burned some years ago. Minnie was trying to burn wasp nests from under the roof and set fire to the house and before help from Spur or Crosbyton could get there the house was destroyed.
Mrs. Minnie Gollihar, 95, a former resident of Crosbyton, died Monday in a Ft. Worth hospital. She was the mother of Mr. Paige E. Gollihar, Spur.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Crosbyton Methodist Church. Burial will be in McAdoo Cemetery.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and held an honorary life membership of the Women's Society of Christian Service.
Survivors include a son, Paige Gollihar, Spur; two daughters, Mrs. John M. Grimland and Mrs. W.F. Fahrenkamp, both of Ft. Worth; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; a brother and a sister.
