Obituary

W.W. Buckner, 60, died September 12 at his home in McAdoo. Services were held at the Baptist Church at McAdoo, Wednesday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m. He was buried in the McAdoo cemetery with the Marr Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Buckner was born October 1, 1884 in Erath county and had lived in this country for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife and 5 children: W. Buckner, McAdoo, E.H. Buckner, Lubbock; Mrs. Bill Tooke, Lubbock; Mrs. Marvin Gatlin, Dickens; Marion Buckner, Hereford.

Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Buckner, 75, were conducted in McAdoo and Lubbock last Friday. She died in he home at 10:55 p.m., February 1, following a long illness.

A service was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church, with the Rev. B.C. Wilkins and the Rev. Wayne Walker, both of Lubbock officiating.

Another service was conducted at 4:50 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church at McAdoo, with the Rev. Victor Crabtree, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church at Dickens, officiating.

Burial was in McAdoo Cemetery, under direction of Franklin Bartley Funeral Home, Lubbock.

Mrs. Buckner lived in McAdoo from 1917 to 1942. Her husband died in 1944.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bill Tooke, Lubbock, and Mrs. Margie Lakely, Bellflower, Calif.; three sons, Ernest, Lubbock, Marion, Roswell; and W.W. Buckner, Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were C.D. Cooley, Willie Phifer, Jimmie Nichols, O.R. Sadler, Horace Ratheal and Lee Parker.

Honorary pallbearers were W.A. Walker, Benard Parker, Dock Cooper, Coy Neeley, Clarence Ratheal and Frankie Dickerson.
