Obituary

Services for K. Willow Street, 86, of Dickens, were at 2 p.m. January 22, 1991, in the Dickens Baptist Church. Rev. Archie Eckles, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Levelland officiated, assisted by Rev. John Dorn, pastor of the First Uited Methodist Church in Dickens and Spur.

Burial was in the Dickens Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Spur.

Mr. Street died about 5:15 a.m. January 20 following a lengthy illness. He was in St. Mary of the Plains Hospital, Lubbock. He was born February 5, 1904 in Ben Franklin. He had been a resident of Dickens since 1915.

He was the founder and owner of West Texas Culverts, Inc. and he retired in 1978. He was also co-owner of Meadors & Street Grocery in Dickens for 40 years.

Mr. Street was a past mayor of Dickens and had taught school in both Dickens and King Counties. He had served as president of the Dickens Cemetery Association since 1948. He also taught an adult Sunday School Class.

He married Marguerite Meadors on September 5, 1925 in Jayton. He attended Texas Tech University, the University of Texas and the University of Colorado. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Street, Dickens; one son, Dr. Kenneth Street, Sherman; one sister, Dannie Hudgens, Abilene; two grandchildren, Cheryl Street Rushing, Plano; Kenneth Street, Sherman and two great grandchildren. Blake and Kenneth Rushing, both of Plano.

Pallbearers included Edwin Cosby, Harry Martin, Jay McClure, R. C. Littlefield, Damon Stotts, Russell Williams, honorary pallbearers were Bill Scott, Judge Carlton Dodson and Cecil H. Meadors.

Memorials may be made to the Dickens Cemetery Assn. or to the Dickens Methodist Church.

Marguerite Street, 96, died July 16, 2005 in Sherman, Texas. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 19, 2005 in the First Baptist Church in Dickens, Texas with Rev. Larry Burton of Spur officiating. Burial followed in Dickens cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

Marguerite married K. Willow Street in 1925.

She taught school in Steel Hill and Finney Texas, and for 35 years she was in the grocery business in Dickens.

She is survived by her son Kenneth W. Street and his wife Louise of Sherman; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; as well as several nephews and nieces. Her husband K. Willow Street preceded her in death in 1991.
