Obituary

DICKENS (Special) — Services for Velma Lee Shaw, 65, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. C. L. Atkinson, pastor, officiating, assisted by Bill Whittaker of Matador.

Burial will be in the Dickens Cemetery under the direction of Campbel Funeral Home of Spur.

She died at 10:53 a.m. Thursday in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Dennison. She married Tom Shaw Nov. 1, 1942, in Corcoran, Calif. She was an assembler for International Harvester for 29 years. She had lived in Dickens County since 1979, moving there from San Diego, Calif. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband; her mother, Agnes Crow of California; three brothers, Cecil, Wayne and Lendon, all of Caifornia; and two sisters, Lorene Robertson of California and Dorothy Cross of Seattle, Wash.

Nephews will be pallbearers

Services for Thomas Bennett (Tommy) Shaw, 65, were held at 2 p.m. November 13, in the First Baptist Church, Dickens. B. L. Hern, minister of the Dickens Church of Christ officiated, assisted by Rev. C. L. Atkinson, Baptist pastor.

Shaw died November 10, in the Crosbyton Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Dickens County on August 26, 1922, he was a retired aircraft inspector. He lived in Dickens County, the early part of his life returning here in 1979 from California.

He originally married Velma Crow on November 1, 1942, in Corcoran, California. She died on July 18, 1985. He then married Clota Marie Hardwick in Dickens on August 1, 1987.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Clota Marie Shaw, Dickens; five brothers, Darrell Shaw, Weatherford; Dean Shaw, Slaton; Donald Shaw, Dickens; Dennis Shaw and Carl Shaw, both of Vega; five sisters, Marie Byrd, Dickens; Corine McDowell, Amarillo; Gustine Beaver, Yucaipa, California; Lillie Mae Griffin, Lake Stamford; Flora Lee Pernell, Vega; his mother, Vivian Shaw, Dickens.

Pallbearers included Manuel Herrera, Cary Shaw, Tommy Kelley, Doug Shaw, Joe McDoowell, Billy Pernell, Tony Pernell and Owen Griffin.

Burial was in Dickens Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.
