Billie Jake Scott photo Services were held October 22, 1993 in the Dickens Baptist Church for Billie Jake Scott, 72, of Dickens. Rev. Tommy Henderson officiated.

Burial was in Dickens Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Scott died at 3:29 p.m. at his home on October 19. Justice of the Peace Kay Laster, ruled that death was due to natural causes.

He was born July 12, 1921 in Las Vegas, N.M. and had lived in Dickens most of his life. A graduate of Dickens High School in 1939, he served as Mayor of Dickens for nine years. He was a member of the Dickens Volunteer Fire department and also served on the Dickens City Council before becoming mayor.

He was a former president of the North Dickens County Senior Citizens and was active in the Dickens Cemetery Association. He owned a service station until 1950 then worked in the oil field until 1959 when he went to work for Wylie Oil Co. as manager of a service station until he retired in 1977.

Survivors include one son, Fred Don Terrell, El Paso; two daughters, Jolene Jackson, Lubbock and Linda Carty, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Wayne Ogle, Bobby Kautz, Edwin Long, Bill Overstreet, Jesse Zarate and George Hotchco.
