ANDREWS — Mary Janie Richards, 82, of Andrews, mother of Maxine Welch of Anson, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene after a illness. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Dickens.

Don Farris, pastor of Primitive Baptist Church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. C. L. Adkinson of Dickens. Burial will be at Dickens Cemetery, directed by Lawrence Funeral Home of Anson.

Born Mary Janie Ritchie Sept. 26, 1902, in Roby, she moved with her family to the Vera community at an early age and married Louis H. Richards. July 3, 1918, in Benjamin. She and her husband farmed in Knox County until 1946 and then in Dickens until they moved to Andrews in 1983. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church.

Three sons and a grandson preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Hewlon of Yuba, Calif., Earle of Decatur and Wayne of Andrews; a daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Maxine) Welch of Anson; two brothers, Aubrey Richie of Grand Prairie and Kyle Ritchie of Vera; two sisters, Ethel Richards of Seymour and Susie Thurman of Arlington; 36 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Don Welch, Roger Richards, Johnny Richards, Ricky Richards, Rodney Richards and Herbert Richards.

ANSON (Special) — Services for Louis H. Richards, 90, of Anson, will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Dickens First Baptist Church with Elder Kirk McClendon, minister of a Primitive Baptist Church in Arlington, officiating.

Burial will be in Dickens Cemetery under direction of Lawrence Funeral Home of Anson.

He died Monday in an Anson Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Indian Territory and moved to Knox County with his family at an early age. He married Mary Jane Ritchie July 3, 1917, in Benjamin. They lived and farmed in Knox County until 1946, when they moved to near Dickens. They moved to Andrews in 1983. Mrs. Richards died May 31, 1985. He moved to Anson in 1988. He was a member of he Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Maxine) Welch of Anson; three sons, Hewlon of Medford, Ore., Earl of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Wayne of DeLeon; 16 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
