Fannie Richards Photo Services for Fannie Lou Richards, 81, of Lubbock were held riday, February 20, 2004 at Dickens Baptist Church of Dickens. Burial followed Dickens Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

She passed away [Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004,] in her home after a short illness.

She was a member of Bellaire Baptist Church in Lubbock.

She was born to Kelly and Julia McAllister Nov. 1, 1922 in Elton, Texas.

She married Richard M. Richards on Oct. 16, 1946 in Pueblo, Colo.

She was postmaster in Afton after graduating high school. She worked hard and diligently before and after her marriage. She retired after 20 years at both Postex Mill and United Supermarkets in Post.

She moved to Lubbock in 1985 and began her loving, kind and dedicated career in taking care of the elderly; most of whom came to regard her as part of their family. She was also dedicated to helping young college students by renting out rooms to many in her home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her daughter, Brenda Mason; brothers, Clyde and J.W., Bob Ed, and a baby brother and baby sister.

She is survived by her son, Rickey Richards of Arlington; son-in-law, G.T. Mason of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Cora Bland of Clarendon; two sisters-in-law, Flossie McAllister of Lubbock and Genetta McAllister of Plainview; and seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

All who knew and were touched by this loving mother will always hold her in loving memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423. In the envelope please include a note designating the family's name and that the money be sent to the breast cancer program.
