George and Mae Pierce came to Dickens County from Wilbarger County in 1909 and settled in the Deer Lake Community on the Hog Ranch. From there they moved to the Croton Community, where my daddy, George Carol, met Eva Thacker.Her folks, Will and Sarah Thacker, came to Croton from Rising Star in 1910. From there they moved to the Wichita Community on the Driver place.
George and Eva were married in Dickens December 18, 1920. They lived first on the Hog Ranch at Deer Lake, there the first of four girls, Georgia Ruth was born. They moved from there to Cathy Hill between Dickens and Spur where Ardell was born. They lived east of Spur near the Karr place, and at Soldier Mound before moving to the Wichita Community on Grandaddy Thacker's place. There, Joan was born and Shirley Annette. .

DICKENS (Special) Services for Sarah Evalyn Pierce 81, of the Wichita community will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Dickens Church of Christ with Fred Gibson of Lubbock officiating, assisted by Billy Ray McBride of Post.Burial will be in Dickens Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.
Mrs. Pierce died at 1:15 a.m. in Crosbyton Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Jacksboro and moved to Dickens County in 1911. She married George Pierce on Dec. 18, 1920 in Dickens. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Georgia Booker of Lubbock, Mrs. Ardelle Johnson of Lubbock, Mrs. Joan Tippitt of Tell, and Mrs. Shirley Cooper of Lubbock; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Seward of Liberty Hill, Mrs. Thelma Gunn of Washington, and Mrs. Essie Fullbrite of Fireball, Calif.; two brothers, Nathan Thacker of Idalou and Herman Thacker of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
