Biography

George and Mae Pierce came to Dickens County from Wilbarger County in 1909 and settled in the Deer Lake Community on the Hog Ranch. From there they moved to the Croton Community, where my daddy, George Carol, met Eva Thacker.

Her folks, Will and Sarah Thacker, came to Croton from Rising Star in 1910. From there they moved to the Wichita Community on the Driver place.

George and Eva were married in Dickens December 18, 1920. They lived first on the Hog Ranch at Deer Lake, there the first of four girls, Georgia Ruth was born. They moved from there to Cathy Hill between Dickens and Spur where Ardell was born. They lived east of Spur near the Karr place, and at Soldier Mound before moving to the Wichita Community on Grandaddy Thacker's place. There, Joan was born and Shirley Annette. .
