Z.T. McKnight Dickens Pioneer Dies Sunday
Zachary Taylor McKnight, 90, a native of Texas and a pioneer Baptist minister of Dickens County, died at his home in Dickens Sunday, Jan. 21, following a brief illness. He was born April 16, 1849 and was a veteran of the Civl War, having been engaged in making shoes for fellow soldiers during that period.Later he became a minister of the Baptist faith and in the early days moved to Dickens county and preached here for many years.
Services were conducted at the home by Rev. H. L. Burnham Monday afternoon at 2 o´clock. Interment followed in Dickens Cemetery, conducted by Ward Funeral Home.
Surviving are three sons, Charles H. McKnight of Fresno, Calif., and Tom and Howard McKnight of Dickens; a daughter, Mrs. O. S. Harvey of McAdoo; and two sisters, Mrs. D. P. Barnes of Weatherford and Mrs. Amanda Long of Wills Point, Texas.
All were present for the services except Charles McKnight who was unable to attend.
